The working group "TEM sample preparation" provides a platform for contacts between experts from scientific institutes, from industry and from tool suppliers.
... has the following goals
- Identification of industrial and scientific problems in the area of sample preparation for transmission electron microscopy
- Creation of research and development projects: joint projects of research institutes, industry and tool suppliers
- Establishing of a scientifically based understanding of the interaction processes during sample preparation, especially for innovative techniques
- Exchange of experience between teams working in the field of transmission electron microscopy, with the focus on sample preparation
- Transfer of knowledge in the application of new sample preparation techniques, including ion beam techniques
- Establishing of suggestions/development requests for the tool supplier (ion etching, FIB)
- Projects to optimize the sample quality and to reduce the total time for preparation
